CHARLIE

Charlie is an intimate family drama that touches on choice, loss and moving on.

Set in modern day America, our story is heavily colored by recent changes in women's rights laws. Exploring family dynamics and romantic relationships, the different choices we can make and our fundamental right to choose, this four character drama follows two couples whose lives intersect at a crucial junction.

All four reach a point of no return, and must learn how to say goodbye.

ABOUT THE SCORE

“From the very first reading of the play, and after a conversation with Emma, I knew I wanted the soundtrack to express two things. First—the silent pain of the characters. When the characters suppressed their pain, I let the music speak for them.
The second was the motif of death, which appears throughout the play from multiple angles. I composed a musical theme to reflect that presence—repeating throughout the piece in different harmonic contexts: sometimes sarcastic, sometimes grim, sometimes violent, and sometimes full of despair.”
